COLLEGE SOFTBALL: SAYRE GRAD WINTERS OFF TO GOOD START IN FIRST SEASON AT PENN COLLEGE (2017-04-07)

WILLIAMSPORT  Sayre grad Kassie Winters, a sophomore on the Penn College softball team is off to a good start in her Wildcat career.

Winters, who played at TC3 in 2016, is 2-0 with a 2.28 ERA. She has allowed 20 hits in 15 1/3 innings, while striking out four and walking five.

Winters, who has also seen time at shortstop, is hitting .455 (5 hits in 11 ABs) with two doubles, five RBI, and a run scored.

Winters best outing in the circle this season came in her first start, a 5-1 win over Rhode Island College. She allowed an unearned run and scattered seven hits in a complete-game seven-inning performance.

Her other win was a four-inning stint in relief in a 12-1 win over Clarks Summit. She allowed one run on two hits, while striking out three and walking three.

Winters has had two multi-hit games this season. She was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in the win over Rhode Island College, and was 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and two RBI in the win over Clarks Summit.

Penn College, now 4-5, returns to action Friday with a doubleheader at Cazenovia College, then on Monday with a doubleheader at SUNY Morrisville.
