ATHENS — Athens erupted for 13 runs in the second inning en route to a 21-4 four-inning win over Troy-2 here Thursday evening in pool play of the District 15 Little League 11U baseball playoffs.
Troy-2 scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning for its only lead of the night, but Athens answered with three runs in the home half of the frame in a rally that featured an RBI triple by Noah Hobday, and RBI double by Kolsen Keathley, and RBI groundout off the bat of Kaiden Hyjek.
In the second inning, every player in the Athens line-up scored a run as they stretched their lead to 16-2.
Keathley had three hits, including a double, and scored four runs, and Tyler Roe doubled and singled, and scored four runs to lead Athens at the plate, while Aiden Garcia singled and scored two runs.
Hobday tripled and scored a run in the win, while Hyjek doubled and scored a run, Jack Cheresnowsky singled and scored two runs, Shawn Irons singled and scored a run, Eli Chapman Connor Mosher and Kaiden Rowe each scored two runs, and Ethan Kinner scored a run.
Athens, now 3-0, closes out pool play Monday at Tioga-Lawrenceville.
