BLOOMSBURG — Upper Dauphin scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to blow open a close game and eliminate Athens from the Section 3 Little League Minors Division baseball playoffs with a 15-6 win here Tuesday evening.
Athens took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but UD countered with five runs in the home half of the frame.
Athens battled back with four runs in the top of the third inning to tie the game at 6-6, with Carson Smith delivering the game-tying run with an RBI single.
Upper Dauphin scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning, then blew the game wide open with seven runs in the fourth inning.
Matthew Driesbaugh was 4-for-4 with a run scored, and Carson Smith stroked a pair of singles, scored one run, and drove in a run to lead Athens at the plate, while Oliver Johnson singled, and Matthias Welles, Nick Grazul, Cooper Robinson, and Eli Hicks each scored a run.
