SAYRE — Senior Kirsten Covey scored four goals in a row to lead Sayre to a 10-1 win over Williamson here Monday afternoon in NTL girls soccer action at the Lockhart Street Bowl.

Senior Madisyn Wheeler had two goals and two assists for the Lady Redskins, and junior Stephanie Klovekorn scored two goals and had one assist.

Sayre opened the scoring on a goal by Wheeler, off a feed from sophomore Abby Moliski just 5 1/2 minutes into the game.

Five minutes later, freshman Lauren Krall scored her first varsity goal on an assist from sophomore Madison Lamanna to give the Lady Redskins a 2-0 lead.

With 10:59 left in the first half, Covey started her string with a goal off a feed from Krall. About 7 1/2 minutes later, Covey scored, off an assist from Wheeler, to extend Sayre’s lead to 4-0 at the half.

Covey scored an unassisted goal just 52 seconds into the second half, then scored again 12 minutes later, off a feed from Klovekorn, to make it 6-0.

Midway through the second half, Wheeler scored off an assist from Moliski to push the lead to 7-0.

Williamson’s Madi Lee broke up the shutout with 13:25 left in the game.

Klovekorn, off a feed from Klovekorn, Lamanna, off an assist from Wampole, and Klovekorn scored the final three goals for the Lady Redskins.

Sayre had a 19-5 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.

Wampole stopped both shots she faced in the net for Sayre, and junior Camry Lane also recorded two saves for the Lady Redskins.

Mercedes Bailey had nine saves for Williamson.

Sayre, now 3-1, returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Towanda.
