IAC GIRLS SOCCER: CINCINNATUS SCORES EIGHT GOALS IN SECOND HALF; TOPS SVEC, 8-1 (2017-10-11)

CANDOR  SVEC held a 1-0 lead, but Section III, Class D power Cincinnatus unleashed a torrent of second-half goals to rally for an 8-1 win in non-league girls soccer action here on a rainy Wednesday afternoon.

The Eagles were outshot 10-2 in the first half, but sophomore Ava Bruehwiler, off a feed from senior Ari Blaasch, scored with 21:56 remaining for the only goal in the first 40 minutes.

Delaney Rulan scored in the opening minute of the second half to tie the game.

Ten minutes later, Devin Burritt found the net to give Cincinnatus a 2-1 lead.

The Lady Lions scored three more goals in the next nine minutes to extend the lead to 5-1, then scored their final three goals in an eight-minute span late in the game.

Rylan netted a hat trick for the Lions, and Kyleigh Eaton added two goals.

Cincinnatus held SVEC to one shot in the second half, and had a 32-3 advantage in the game. The Lions also had an 11-3 edge in corner kicks.

Sophomore Savannah Tuttle recorded 11 saves in net for SVEC, and senior Jeanetta Hays had six.

SVEC wraps up the regular season at 8-7, and will face North champion Groton Saturday at 2 p.m. in the IAC Small School Championship game at Tompkins-Cortland Community College.
