WOMEN'S COLLEGE SOCCER: TIOGA GRAD PASSETTI HELPS ALFRED U. TO FIRST-EVER EMPIRE 8 POST-SEASON APPEARANCE (2017-11-06)

Valley Sports Report
ALFRED, N.Y. — Tioga grad Holly Passetti, a freshman on the Alfred University women’s soccer team, had an assist in the Lady Saxons’ 4-2 win over Utica College in the regular-season finale on Oct. 28 to advance to the Empire 8 Conference postseason tournament for the first time in school history.

Leading 2-0, Passetti set up Lexi Riffelbach, who matched a school-record with four goals in the win, for a goal in the 69th minute to extend the Alfred lead to 3-1.

On Friday, the Lady Saxons dropped a 3-0 decision to top-seeded Hartwick in the opening round of the Empire 8 Conference Championships.

Passetti, who played in 18 of Alfred’s 19 games, and started on defense in 12, took three shots on the season, and all three were on-goal. Her assist in the regular-season finale was her lone point of the season.

Alfred wraps up the 2017 campaign at 7-9-3.
