IAC GIRLS BOWLING: WAVERLY PULLS OUT TIGHTLY-CONTESTED SWEEP OF UNION SPRINGS (2017-12-06)

WAVERLY — Waverly pulled out three close wins, including two by less than 20 pins, in a sweep of Union Springs here Wednesday afternoon in IAC Large School girls bowling action at the Valley Bowling Center.

The Lady Wolverines won the first game 777-758, then won an 854-789 decision in the second game. They won the third game 797-788 for a total-pinfall victory of 2,428 to 2,337.

Senior Cassy Bowman led Waverly with a 576 series on games of 196, 191, and 189.

Senior Chenelle Huddleston shot a 505 for Waverly, while 7th-grader Victoria Houseknecht rolled a 479, and sophomore Mackenzie Plouse had a 473. Junior Sarah Uhl added a 395 in the win, and junior Kari VanAllen tacked on a 337.

Keri Jesmer led Union Springs with a 557 series, and Makayla Smith added a 507.

Waverly, now 16-0, returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Groton.
