WAVERLY — A trio of Wolverines rolled 600 series to pace Waverly in a sweep of Newark Valley here Thursday afternoon in IAC boys bowling action at the Valley Bowling Center.
Waverly won the first game 973-909, then followed it up with wins of 953-920, and 1,043-926 for a total-pinfall victory of 2,969 to 2,755.
Sophomore Derrick Canfield banged out a 655 series on games of 204, 246, and 205, while senior Nick Briggs shot a 647 on games of 214, 184, and 249, and 7th-grader Zach Vanderpool added a 621 on games of 185, 189, and 247.
Senior Logan Bowman had a 540 for the Wolverines, while senior Chris Johnson added a 505, and freshman Matt Mauersberg tacked on a 427.
Kyle Pratt led Newark Valley with a 648 series on games of 225, 190, and 233, while Philip Babey rolled a 590, and Alex Umiker added a 581.
Waverly, now 38-6, returns to action Tuesday at Watkins Glen in a battle for first place in the Large School Division.
