ATHENS — Nate Martin and Sheldon Rogers combined for 27 second-half points to lead Troy in a 65-61 come-from-behind win over Athens here Thursday night in NTL Large School boys basketball action.

Seniors Gavin Stein and Ethan Lane scored five points apiece in the first quarter, and Aaron Lane knocked down a 3-pointer to help Athens to a 13-8 lead.

Stein scored five more points in the second, including his second 3-pointer, and Ethan Lane, and senior Mateo Baglini added four points apiece as the Wildcats maintained a five-point lead, at 26-21, heading into the halftime intermission.

Rogers connected on a 3-pointer early in the third quarter, and scored nine points, while Martin and Ja Wallace added four points apiece for the Trojans, and Dom Ayres canned a 3-pointer to offset seven points from Stein, and four from sophomore Keegan Rude as Troy tied the game at 41-41 entering the final eight minutes.

Martin scored 10 points in the fourth quarter, including a 4-for-4 effort at the free-throw line, while Rogers and Wallace scored four points apiece.

The Trojans made 9 of 12 free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter to pull out the win.

Stein led the Wildcats with 22 points, including four 3-pointers, while Ethan Lane scored 13 points, sophomore Aaron Lane had nine points, including a pair of 3-pointers, Rude added seven points, and Baglini chipped in with six points.

Rogers led Troy with 15 points, while Clark Jackson, Martin, and Wallace each scored 14 points, and Ayres chipped in with six points.

The Wildcats, whose game Saturday at Cowanesque Valley has been postponed, fall to 7-5 on the season. They return to action Monday at Mansfield.
