ATHENS Athens limited Troy to just four baskets, including two through the first three quarters, and rolled to a 49-8 rout here Friday night in NTL Large School girls basketball action.
Senior Emily Lunger scored 10 points in the first quarter to fuel an 18-2 blitz, then senior Kara Chapman scored six points in the second quarter in a 10-0 run that extended the lead to 28-2 at the half.
Freshman Kayleigh Miller scored seven points, including her second 3-pointer of the game, in the third quarter in a 17-2 run that upped the Lady Wildcat lead to 45-4 entering the final eight minutes.
Chapman scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and Lunger had 15 points and four blocked shots to lead Athens, while Miller scored a career-high 12 points, junior Sophie Adams had eight boards and four steals, and sophomore Avery Priester handed out five assists.
Rachel Hickok led Troy with four points.
Athens, now 8-4, returns to action Tuesday at North Penn-Liberty.
JV: Athens won the junior varsity contest 25-4. Megan Collins paced Athens with seven points.
