DALLAS, Pa. — Sayre grad Paige Wampole, a sophomore on the Misericordia women’s basketball team, was recently named the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Division “Player of the Week.”
Wampole opened the week with 10 points, six rebounds, one blocked shot, and one steal in just 21 minutes on the floor in a 64-38 win over King’s College.
In the second game of the week, Wampole scored 20 points and hauled down 20 rebounds, to go along with three blocked shots, two assists, and two steals. She made 7 of 14 shots from the field in a 74-67 overtime win at DeSales.
Since the award, Wampole scored seven points and grabbed seven rebounds in an 89-33 win over Wilkes College Thursday. She also also had three steals, two blocked shots, and one assist.
In an 84-61 loss to FDU-Florham, Wampole had 11 points and seven rebounds, as well as one blocked shot, one steal, and one assists.
On the season, Wampole, who has started all 18 games this season, is averaging 9.7 points and a team-high 8.7 rebounds per game, including a team-high 4.4 offensive rebounds per game.
Wampole leads the team with 22 blocked shots, is second on the team with 21 steals, and is fifth on the team with 23 assists. She is also shooting a team-high 51.1 percent from the field.
Misericordia, now 11-7, is at Eastern Wednesday.
