|IAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY CRUISES TO 58-36 WIN OVER O-M IN MATCH-UP OF DIVISION LEADERS (9 PHOTOS) (2018-02-06)

WAVERLY — State-ranked Waverly raced out to a 22-point first-quarter lead, and cruised to a 58-36 win over O-M in a battle of IAC South girls basketball division leaders Tuesday night.
Junior Alex Tomasso canned a pair of 3-pointers and scored nine points in the first quarter, and senior Paige Miller added eight points, including a 3-pointer to lead Waverly in a 25-3 blitz.
Senior Elle Nittinger knocked down a 3-pointer, and scored five points in the second quarter to help Waverly to a 35-12 halftime advantage.
Nittinger scored eight more points in the third quarter, and Alex Tomasso knocked down another 3-pointer as Waverly maintained a 51-25 lead heading into the final eight minutes.
Nittinger led Waverly with 19 points, while Alex Tomasso scored 12 points, Miller had 10 points, senior Marissa Trudeau added six points, and senior Zoe Mennig chipped in with five points.
Gillian Clark led O-M, ranked 10th in Class C, with 13 points, and Olivia Grover added eight.
Waverly, now 19-0 and ranked 10th in Class B, will face either Whitney Point or Dryden Feb. 16 in the overall IAC Large School title game at TCCC.
