TIOGA CENTER — Seniors Hannah Browne and Grace Manwaring, who enjoyed a career night, delivered from long distance late in the game to lead Tioga in a 52-51 come-from-behind win over Newark Valley here Tuesday night in IAC girls basketball action.
Tioga coach Joe Robinson said it was a fiercely-contested game.
“These girls know each other very well,” he said.
(Newark Valley coach Greg) Schweiger coaches a lot of our girls during the summer, so they are very familiar with each other,” noted Robinson. “They were really getting after each other tonight, it was a lot of fun.
“I have to give our girls a lot of credit, they dug deep and pulled one out,” added Robinson. “It’s a very nice win for us.”
Manwaring scored the first seven points of the game to give Tioga a 7-0 lead, but Newark Valley’s Maddy Sherwood countered with a pair of 3-pointers in a 12-0 run to give the Lady Cardinals a 12-7 lead.
