WAVERLY Waverly closed the game with a 6-0 spurt in the final 50 seconds to pull out a 44-39 win over O-M here Tuesday in IAC junior varsity girls basketball action.

Waverly used a balanced attacked, led by four points from Morgan Adams and Alyssa Sindoni, to take a 17-13 lead into the halftime locker room.

O-M rallied in the third quarter to tie the game at 27-27 heading into the final eight minutes, despite six points from Sindoni.

Waverly trailed 36-32 with 2:33 remaining in the game, but two free throws by Adams, and one by Olivia Nittinger trimmed the deficit to 36-35 with 2 minutes remaining.

A bucket by Gabby Picco gave Waverly a 37-36 lead with 1:44 left in the game, but O-M re-gained the lead just seven seconds later with a pair of free throws.

Gabby Picco tied the game with a free throw with 1:22 remaining, but O-M once again took the lead on a free throw 1:10 left in the game.

Trailing 39-38, Gabby Picco once again gave Waverly the lead with 50.3 seconds left in the game. Adams and Sindoni added buckets in the closing moments of the game to seal the victory.

Sindoni led Waverly with 14 points, while Adams scored 11 points, Gabby Picco added nine points, and Nittinger, and Gianna Picco chipped in with four points apiece.

Waverly finishes the season at 11-6.
