YOUTH BASKETBALL(9TH-GRADE GIRLS): ATHENS-BASED HUSKIES WIN 2 OF 3 IN FIRST TOURNEY OF SEASON (2018-03-04)

ENDICOTT — The Athens-based Huskies 9th-grade girls travel basketball team went 2-1 here Sunday in its first tournament of the season.

Huskies 51, Horseheads 26
Tioga’s Olivia Ayres pumped in 15 points, and Athens’ Kayleigh Miller added 10 points to lead the Huskies to a 51-26 win over Horseheads in the first game of the day.

NEB’s Lauren Jones scored nine points in the win, while Athens’ Olivia Bartlow, and Rachel Stephens chipped in with eight and seven, respectively.

Lady Huskies 44, Vestal 21
Miller scored 11 points, and Athens’ Megan Collins had eight points to lead the Huskies to a 44-21 win over Vestal.

Bartlow and Jones scored six points apiece in the win, while Ayres added five points, and Stephens chipped in with four.

Maine-Endwell 50, Huskies 38

Maine-Endwell kept the Huskies from a perfect afternoon with a 50-38 win.

Ayres led the Huskies with 12 points, while Stephens added nine, and Jones chipped in with eight.

The Huskies return to action March 18 at Scranton.
