THE VALLEY With several make-up games on docket, this weeks schedule is once again busier than normal, but Mother Nature could play a big role this week.
Rain is expected to hit the Valley late Sunday night with one-half to three-quarters of an inch expected on Monday, and additional showers on Tuesday. Mondays action is doubtful, and some fields may not be playable Tuesday if the forecasts are accurate.
Another quarter-inch of rain is in the forecast for Thursday.
There are 48 events on the docket this week, with 11 scheduled on Monday, and 11 more on Tuesday.
The following are some not all of the top events for the week:
Fresh off a win over Notre Dame, Waverly softball hosts Large School rival Watkins Glen, their baseball counterparts look to break a two-game skids at home against O-M / Watkins Glen.
The S-VE baseball and softball teams host Tioga.
The Athens baseball and softball teams host Mansfield.
Re-scheduled from Tuesday, the Waverly track teams host their final home meet of the season.
In a meet originally slated to be at Towanda, the Athens track teams now host the Black Knights.
The Tioga track teams host their final home meet of the season with S-VE and Newfield in town.
Waverly baseball and softball hosts Newark Valley, while Tioga hosts Newfield.
The Waverly girls golf team hosts Marathon, Lansing, and Horseheads at Tomassos Golf Course.
The Sayre baseball and softball teams host crosstown rival Athens.
The Waverly baseball and softball teams are on the road at Edison in key IAC South Large School match-ups.
The Athens and Sayre track teams are at the Lock Haven Invitational.
Tioga baseball hosts Lansing.
The Tioga boys golf team hosts S-VE.
The Tioga softball team plays at Towanda at 11 a.m., while the baseball team plays there in a 5 p.m. start.
The Waverly track teams are at the Square Deal Invite at Johnson City.
The Athens softball team is at Elk Lake.
