THE VALLEY — In a game scheduled Thursday, Athens baseball will host crosstown rival Waverly for their second meeting of the 2018 season.

The Wildcats were originally scheduled to play at U-E Friday night, but U-E canceled the game Thursday, and Athens AD Denny Thomas, and Waverly AD Cate Pichany were able to quickly arrange a game as both teams prepare for the postseason.

Waverly hosts Sayre Saturday at noon.

BASEBALL
Waverly (10-8) at Athens (10-5), 4:45 p.m.:
The Wolverines are coming off a 13-7 win over O-M / Watkins Glen Thursday afternoon, while the Wildcats dropped a 7-6 decision at Wellsboro Wednesday.

Earlier this season, junior Joe Parshall pitched a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead Athens to a 4-1 win over Waverly.

Sayre (10-4) at NEB (9-8), 4:30 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off a 14-4 win over Williamson, while the Panthers won at Canton, 8-7.

Sayre can clinch the NTL Small School title with a win.

Earlier this season, junior James Esposito tossed a five-hit shutout in Sayre’s 10-0 win over NEB.

SOFTBALL
Sayre (2-12) at NEB (11-5), 4:30 p.m.:
The Lady Redskins are coming of an 11-4 home loss to Williamson Wednesday, while the Lady Panthers thumped Canton 15-3.

Earlier this season, NEB topped Sayre, 8-1.

GIRLS GOLF
Waverly (24-0), O-M Horseheads at Watkins Glen, 3:30 p.m.: The Lady Wolverines have won 91 consecutive matches dating back to the 2015 season.

BOYS GOLF

Trumansburg at S-VE, 4 p.m. @ Catatonk Golf Course
