ROME, Pa. — Senior Jordan Rockwell pitched 6 2/3 strong innings, and led Sayre at the plate as the Redskins clinched the NTL Small School Division title with a 12-2 win over Northeast Bradford here Friday afternoon.

Rockwell allowed two runs — both unearned — on one hit, while striking out 13 and walking two to earn the win. Sophomore Quinn Hanafin struck out one, and walked two in 1/3 of an inning.

Rockwell was 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored, and two RBI to pace Sayre’s 13-hit attack, while senior Connor Hanafin singed twice, scored two runs, and drove in one run, and senior Jon Cron was 2-for-2 with a run scored, and three RBI.

Quinn Hanafin doubled, and scored two runs for the Redskins, while senior Nate Sweet singled, scored a run, and drove in a run, sophomore Ethan Miller, and freshman Jake Burgess each singled and scored a run, junior James Esposito singled and drove in a run, and junior Luke Cowder added a single.

The Redskins drew first blood in the top of the second on a one-out single by Rockwell, who scored on a two-out RBI single by Cron.

Sayre blew the game open in the third inning with a seven-run rally that included a two-run single by Cron, and RBI single by Connor Hanafin. Sayre also plated runs on a bases-loaded walk to Rockwell, and an RBI groundout by Esposito, and capped its rally with two runs scoring on an error to make it 8-0.

Tyler Devonshire broke up Rockwell’s no-hitter with a one-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Sayre, now 11-4, is slated to play at Waverly Saturday at noon, weather permitting.
