WAVERLY — The Tomasso’s / WJ Graphics Astros scored the first nine runs of the game, and cruised to a 15-4 win over Tom’s Hardware / S&J General Contractors Giants here Thursday evening in Waverly Little League Majors Division baseball action.
The Astros scored three runs in the top of the first inning in a rally that featured an RBI double by Sean Bubniak, and an RBI single by Jerry Carnrike.
The Astros scored six runs in the top of the second inning, including four by passed ball, and wild pitches. Joey Tomasso contributed an RBI double, and Hogan Shaw stroked an RBI single as the lead increased to 9-0.
Tomasso tripled and doubled, scored two runs, and drove in a run, while Ryan Shepard doubled and singled, scored three runs, and knocked in a run, and Carnrike singled twice, scored a pair of runs, and drove in a run to pace the Astros 13-hit attack.
Ben Shaw singled, scored one run, and drove in two runs for the Astros, while Bubniak, and Kinder Worden doubled, scored one run, and knocked in a run, Trenton Serafin singled and scored three runs, Brayden Talada singled and drove in a run, and Lincoln Sharpsteen singled and scored a run.
Tomasso started for the Astros, and threw two perfect innings with five strikeouts. Bubniak earned the win, allowing four runs on four hits in four innings , while striking out 12 and walking just one.
Nathan Kellogg singled twice, scored one run, and drove in a run to pace the Giants at the plate, while Brian Hicks singled and drove in a run, and Kadyn Wheeler singled, and scored a run.
