
DISTRICT 4 BOYS TRACK & FIELD: ATHENS' DAILEY TOP VALLEY SEED AT DISTRICT 4 CHAMPIONSHIPS (20180515)
Valley Sports Report WILLIAMSPORT — Athens senior Jon Dailey is the highest seeded Valley male athlete here this weekend at the District 4 Track & Field Championships at Williamsport High School.
The Athens boys are competing in the Class AAA championships, while the Sayre boys are in Class AA.
CLASS AAA Only the champion in each event automatically advanced to the PIAA Championships. However, an athlete can qualify by finishing in the top 8, and bettering the state standard.
Dailey is the second seed in the high jump at 6feet, 1inch, while junior Zach Trasco is the 11th seed at 5feet, 6inches, and sophomore Ben Biles is the 14th seed at 5feet, 4inches. (The state standard is 6feet, 5inches.)
Athens sophomore Damian Hudson is the fifth seed in the 100meter dash at 11.5 seconds. (The state standard is 11.1 seconds.) Hudson is the sixth seed in the 200meter dash at 23.81 seconds, and Dailey is the eighth seed at 2386 seconds. (The state standard is 22.5 seconds)
Senior Arvid Johnson is the fifth seed in the 400meter dash in 53.32 seconds. (The state standard is 50.09 seconds.)
Senior Nate Aquilio is the fifth seed in the 3,200meter run at 10:25.55, and sophomore T.J. Toscano is the 12th seed at 10:57.39. (The state standard is 9:31.71.)
The Athens foursome of senior Ethan Lane, Aquilio, Johnson, and sophomore Doug Vosburgh is the fifth seed in the 3,200meter relay in a time of 8:46.76. (The state standard is 8:02.04.)
The Athens foursome of freshman Benjamin Gambrell IV, Dailey, Hudson, and senior Adam Dieg is the sixth seed in the 400meter relay at 46.7 seconds. (The state standard is 43.25 seconds.)
The Wildcat foursome of Hudson, Lane, Trasco, and Johnson is the sixth seed in the 1,600meter relay in a time of 3:43.46. (The state standard is 3:24.03.)
Gambrell IV is the seventh seed in the long jump at 20feet, 2 1/2inches, and Dailey is the 16th seed at 18feet, 1 1/2inches. (The state standard is 22feet.)
Senior Sean Waltman is the seventh seed in the 300meter hurdles in a time of 44.46 seconds, and senior Braden Priester is the 14th seed at 48.5 seconds. (The state standard is 39.8 seconds.) Waltman is the eighth seed in the pole vault at 10feet, 6inches, and Biles is the 13th seed at 10feet. (The state standard is 14feet, 3inches.)
Lane is the eighth seed in the 1,600meter run in a time of 4:48.28, and Aquilio is the ninth seed at 4:49.21. (The state standard is 4:24.22.) Lane is the ninth seed in the 800meter run at 2:07.99, and Vosburg is the 15th seed at 2:15.61. (The state standard is 1:57.32.)
Junior Noah Wright is the 10th seed in the discus with a seed market 113feet, 10inches, and freshman Asher Ellis is the 16th seed at 106feet, 6inches. (The state standard is 153feet.) Wright is the 12th seed in the shot put with a mark of 40feet, 10inches. (The state standard is 52feet.)
Priester is the 12th seed in the 110meter hurdles in a time of 17.41 seconds, while Waltman is the 13th seed at 17.54 seconds, and freshman James BennigerJones is the 16thseed at 19.62 seconds. (The state standard is 15.1 seconds.)
Senior Matteo Baglini is the 13th seed in the triple jump at 38feet, 2 1/4inches, and Dieg is the 14th seed at 37feet, 5 3/4inches. (The state standard is 45feet.)
CLASS AA The top two finishers in each event automatically qualify for the PIAA Championships. Athletes can also qualify by finishing in the top eight, and meeting the state standard.
The Redskins had just two athletes qualify for districts.
Junior Joey Stermer is the 16th seed in the discus at 122feet, 9inches. (The state standard is 148feet.), and freshman Zach Belles is the 20th seed in the shot put with a mark of 40feet, 4inches. (The state standard is 50feet, 3inches.)
The District 4 Championships are Thursday (field events begin at 6 p.m., and track events at 6:30 p.m.) and Saturday (beginning at 10 a.m.)
