Valley Sports Report
MANSFIELD Tioga grad Charlsie Bowen will be making her first trip to the Division II NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships next weekend at the Irwin Belk Complex on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C.

Bowen, who set the Mansfield school record in the pole vault at 12-feet, 7 1/2-inches earlier this season, holds the top two spots in the school record book, is ranked fourth in the region, and 13th in the nation.

On May 5, Bowen finished fifth in the pole vault at the PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Slippery Rock University. Bowen cleared the bar at 12-feet, 3 1/4-inches third best overall, but placed fifth due to misses.

Last weekend, Bowen, who was the only Division II athlete in the competition, finished 11th at the  ECAC / IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Princeton, N.J. She cleared the bar at 12-feet, 1 1/4-inches.

Bowen has also earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Atlantic Region accolades for the 2018 outdoor season.

It marks the third time Bowen has earned all-Region honors.
