LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. — Waverly grad Brendyn Stillman hit a pair of home runs to help Herkimer College to a 13-5 win over Niagara County Community College in the NJCAA Region III championship baseball game here Monday night.
The Generals, now 35-7 and ranked fourth in the nation, won its first first two games of the double-elimination tournament, before dropping a 5-3 decision to Niagara CCC Monday afternoon to force the winner-take-all title game Monday night.
Herkimer opened the weekend with an 14-4 win over Erie Community College Friday afternoon. Still pinch-hit in the game and was 0-for-1 with a run scored.
On Saturday, Stillman rapped out a pair of doubles and had an RBI to help Herkimer to an 11-3 win over Niagara.
After Niagara knocked off Hudson Valley to advance to the championship round, it beat Herkimer 5-3 Monday afternoon to force the decisive game. Stillman was 0-for-3 in the loss.
In the championship game, Stillman was 3-for-4 with two home runs, four runs scored, and three RBI.
Herkimer is the top seed in the NJCAA Division III World Series in Greenville Tennessee Friday through Monday. (For more information, click here.)
On the season, Stillman is hitting .436 (48 hits in 110 at-bats) with 29 extra-base hits, including 13 doubles, seven triples, and nine home runs, 43 runs scored, and a team-high 51 RBI.
Stillman was hit by pitches 15 times this season, and walked 18 times, posting a .559 on-base percentage. Paired with a .927 slugging percentage, he had a team-high OPS of 1.486.
Stillman also had nine stolen bases in 11 attempts.
