SAYRE — Joe’s Marine scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, and made it stand up in a 6-1 win over C&N Bank here Saturday afternoon in Athens / Sayre Little League Majors Division baseball action at Jeff Terpko Field at Riverfront Park.
Joe’s Marine jumped ahead in the first inning in a rally that featured RBI singles by Gabe Horton and Andrew Vanderpool, and RBI doubles by Karter Green and David Hall.
Karter Green was 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and two RBI to lead Joe’s Marine at the plate, while Hall doubled, scored one run, and drove in a run, and Horton singled, scored two runs, and knocked in a run.
Vanderpool singled and drove in a run for Joe’s Marine, while Brayton Slater and Tanner Green each singled, and Thomas Morley scored a pair of runs.
Tanner Green earned the win on the mound for Joe’s Marine, allowing one unearned run on three hits in four innings. He fanned eight and walked two.
Jon Apgar closed out the game with two hitless innings of relief, striking out three and walking one.
Troy Rosenbloom singled and scored a run, while Nick Grazul doubled and Braden Cardenas singled to account for C&N Bank’s three hits.
Connor Mosher was tagged with the loss on the mound for C&N Bank. He allowed six runs — four earned — on eight hit, while striking out seven and walking two in five innings of work.
