BLOOMSBURG — On the heels of its first-ever state playoff victory, Sayre will square off with Faith Christian Academy here at Central Columbia High School in the quarterfinals of the PIAA Class A baseball playoffs. Game time is 4 p.m.

The Redskins (15-5) are coming off a 5-2 win over Greenwood Monday in the opening round of the PIAA Class A playoffs, while the Lions (16-6) topped Girard Academic Music Program 8-2.

Sayre is on a four-game win streak, having allowed just six runs in that span, while Faith Christian has won 10 in a row since a 4-2 loss to Calvary Baptist on April 24.

Faith Christian has been a team of streaks this season, starting the season 0-3 before winning six straight. After losing three in a row to fall to 6-6, the Lions stated their current win streak with a 10-0 win over Plumstead Christian.

FCA has outscored its opponents 65-16 during its win streak, which includes an 8-7 win over Delaware County Christian in the District 1 championship game — avenging an 11-8 loss earlier in the season — and a 1-0 forfeit win over over Philadelphia Montgomery Christian Academy.

The winner will take on the winner of today’s game between District 5 champion Southern Fulton and District 3 runner-up High Point Monday in the state semifinals at a site and time to be determined.
