DISTRICT 6 LITTLE LEAGUE (MAJORS): WAVERLY BLANKS HORNELL, 9-0 — IMPROVES TO 3-1 IN POOL PLAY (15 PHOTOS) (2018-06-28)
 Valley Sports Report WAVERLY — Waverly scored early and often, and Jay Pipher was dominant on the mound in a 9-0 win over Hornell here Thursday night in pool play action in the District 6 Little League Majors Division baseball action.
Waverly, playing as the visiting team, scored two runs in the top of the first inning, then scored a run in the second and two more in the third to stretch its lead to 5-0.
Waverly put the game away in the fourth inning with three runs to take an 8-0 lead.
Pipher pitched 4 2/3 innings of two-hit ball to earn the win. He fanned eight and walked one.
Brayden Talada struck out three and walked one in 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to close out the game.
Joey Tomasso had three hits, including a double, and scored a pair of runs to lead Waverly at the plate, while Pipher doubled and singled, and scored three runs, Carter George added a single, Talada scored a pair of runs, and Jake VanHouten and Nate DeLill each scored one run.
Waverly, now 3-1 in pool play, travels to Elmira Saturday at 11 a.m.
