TIOGA JUNCTION, Pa. —The Sayre and Athens volleyball teams both ventured to the Williamson Tournament here Saturday, and were both eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Sayre went 3-3 in pool play and lost 2-0 to Galeton in quarterfinals, while Athens went 2-4 in pool pay, and lost in the quarterfinals via “point differential” tie-breaker after splitting a pair of sets with Coudersport.

The Lady Redskins opened with wins of 25-14 and 26-24 over the Lady Wildcats. They followed with losses of 25-18 and 25-20 to Williamson.

Sayre closed out pool play with a split against Northern Potter, winning the first set 25-21, and dropping the second 25-22.

Galeton topped Sayre 25-19 and 27-25 in the quarterfinals.

After dropping the first two sets to Sayre, Athens swept Northern Potter by scores of 25-16 and 25-17, the dropped a pair of 25-17 decisions to Williamson to close out pool play.

In the quarterfinals, Coudersport topped Athens 25-17. The Lady Wildcats bounced back with a 25-18 win in the second set.

For Athens, Amelia Martin had 20 digs, 19 setter assists, 15 kills, four aces and a block on the day, while Haley Barry recorded 37 digs; Cassidy Stackpole registered 34 digs, three kills and two assists; Paige McCarthy had 19 digs; and Meghan McDuffee finished with 11 kills, five digs and four blocks.

Kayleigh Miller ended the day with 25 assists, seven digs and three kills for the Lady WIldcats, while Leah Liechty logged 10 kills, seven digs and five blocks; and Christina Bard added six digs.
