TIOGA CENTER — Megan Holloway, with an assist from Jordan Greeno, scored with 3:09 remaining in overtime to lift Owego to a 2-1 win over Tioga here Friday afternoon in Section IV, Division III field hockey action.
“The girls played a fantastic game and played hard every minute of the game,” said Tioga coach Jackie Taylor. “We have two girls out for injuries and no subs, so all things considered I was proud of their performance.”
After a scoreless first half, Miki Worzel scored off a penalty corner with 24:45 remaining in regulation to give the Lady Indians a 1-0 lead.
Five minutes later, Michaela Webb put Tioga on the board to tie the game at 1-1.
Taylor singled out the play of Hannah Fox in the loss.
Hannah Fox played a fantastic game,” said Taylor “She took a lot of heat as midi, where she doesn't play often, and did a spectacular job.”
Owego had a 24-7 advantage in shots-on-goal — including 6-1 edge in overtime. Owego took 17 penalty corners to Tioga’s five.
Kim Tarbox recorded 20 saves in the cage for Tioga, while Sarah Haskell had five for Owego.
Tioga hosts SVEC Monday morning, while Owego travels to Windsor.
