THE VALLEY  Cross country takes center stage as usual on Tuesday, with the IAC South runners converging on Newark Valley for the divisional meet, and Athens hosting Sayre, Troy and Canton in a quad-meet.

The only other home events today have the Waverly volleyball and Sayre boys soccer teams hosting league rivals.

Waverly, Tioga at IAC Divisional Meet, 5 p.m. @ Newark Valley:
The girls meet will feature a pair of state-ranked teams in Newark Valley (6th in Class C), and Waverly (10th in Class C).

Waverly is the lone boys team with a state ranking (18th in Class C).

Sayre, Troy, Canton at Athens, 4:30 p.m.

Waverly (12-1) at Newark Valley (7-2-1), 5 p.m.:
The Lady Wolverines are coming off a Large School division-clinching 3-0 win over SVEC Thursday, while the Lady Cardinals have been off since a 3-2 win over SVEC on Sept. 28.

Waverly won the first meeting, 1-0, at home.

Athens (10-1) at Ithaca (9-3-1), 5:30 p.m.: The Lady Wildcats are coming off their first loss of the season, a 3-1 decision to Cicero-North Syracuse at the Oneonta Tournament, while the Little Red topped Owego, 5-1, Friday.

Athens beat Horseheads 4-3 in double-OT earlier this season, while Ithaca beat Horseheads twice by scores of 3-2 and 2-0.


Athens (11-0) at Williamson, 4 p.m.:
The Wildcats are coming off a 14-0 win over Sayre Monday, while the Warriors dropped a 12-0 decision at Athens Saturday.

Athens has outscored its opponents 58-2 this season, and has won its last five games by a margin of 39-0.

Northern Potter (3-7-1) at Sayre (1-11), 5:30 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off a 14-0 loss at Athens Monday, while the Panthers are coming off a 5-4 home loss to Northeast Bradford.

In their first meeting, Northern Potter beat Sayre, 7-3.

Newark Valley (5-6) at Waverly (6-4), 5 p.m. JV start:
The Lady Wolverines are coming off a sweep of Watkins Glen last Tuesday, while the Lady Cardinals swept Watkins Glen Thursday.

Sayre (3-9) at Canton (9-2), 6 p.m. JV start: The Lady Redskins are coming off a 3-0 loss to Athens Saturday, while the Small School-leading Lady Warriors pulled out a five-set win over Cowanesque Valley.

Waverly (6-2) at Watkins Glen, 5:30 p.m.:
The Lady Wolverines are coming off a 111-59 win over Southern Cayuga Thursday, while the Lady Senecas topped Dryden, 89-76.

Oneonta at Tioga, 4:30 p.m.:
