ON TAP TODAY: ATHENS GIRLS, BOYS OPEN PLAY IN DISTRICT 4 SOCCER PLAYOFFS (2018-10-31)

THE VALLEY  The Athens girls and boys soccer teams will play in a District 4 playoff doubleheader at Loyalsock High School tonight, while the Waverly girls swim team swims in the Section IV, Class B preliminaries.

GIRLS SOCCER
District 4 Playoffs
Class AAA Semifinals
4-Shikellamy (9-7-2) vs 1-Athens (13-3), 5 p.m. @ Loyalsock H.S.:
The Lady Wildcats are coming off a 5-2 loss to Montrose 11 days ago, while the Lady Indians dropped a 1-0 decision to Milton.

Athens went 3-3 in its final six games after a 10-0 start, while Shikellamy lists its final three decision and went 1-4-1 in its final six games.

The Lady Wildcats outscored their opponents 98-18 this season, and won nine games via shutouts, while Shik outscored its opponents 40-28, and posted four shutouts, including a 0-0 tie against Mifflinburg.

The winner will play the winner of the game between second seed Selinsgrove (11-7) and third-seed Mifflinburg (11-6-1) in the Class AAA title game at a date and time to be announced.

BOYS SOCCER
District 4 Playoffs

Jersey Shore (6-11-1) vs. Athens (17-1), 7 p.m. @ Loyalsock H.S.:
The Wildcats are coming off a 9-0 win over North Penn-Liberty 11 days ago, while the Bulldogs dropped a 7-0 decision to Williamsport on Oct. 17.

Athens won four in a row to end the season all by shutouts, while Jersey Shore lost eight of its final 10 decisions, including three in a row to end the regular season.

Athens outscored its opponents 100-3 this season and posted 16 shutouts, while Jersey Shore was outscored 47-28.

The winner will play the winner of the game between second-seed Selinsgrove (13-5) and third seed Mifflinburg (12-6) in the Class AAA title game at a date and time to be announced.

GIRLS SWIMMING
Waverly at Section IV, Class B preliminaries, 4 p.m., Owego:
The Lady Wolverines will swim against Class Bs best Wednesday, with the top 16 swimmers in each event, and the top eight relays advancing to the Class B Championships Saturday afternoon at Watkins Glen.
