THE VALLEY Fresh off its first Section IV volleyball title, Waverly will play host to Section IX champion and defending state runner-up Millbrook tonight at 7 p.m. at Corning-Painted Post High School.

The Lady Wolverines are coming off a 3-1 win over Susquehanna Valley in the Section IV title match, while the Lady Blazers swept Spacenkill in the Section IX championship match.

Millbrook enters the match at 19-1, while Waverly is 15-5.

Last year, Millbrook advanced to the state finals, where it dropped a 3-1 decision to Portville. Along the way, Millbrook topped Tioga, 3-1, in the Class C quarterfinals.

Millbrook is led by junior Erin Fox and senior Sam McKenna, have 422 and 373 kills, respectively, this season, and 8th-grader Bella Darnell, who has 55 blocks.

The winner will face Section I champion Valhalla Saturday at John Jay Cross River Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
