|IAC BOYS BOWLING: VANDERPOOL LEADS WAVERLY IN 3-1 WIN OVER EDISON (2018-12-04)

ELMIRA — Eighth-grader Zach Vanderpool banged out a 700 series to lead Waverly to a 3-1 win over Thomas A. Edison here Tuesday afternoon in IAC boys bowling action at Rossi Lanes.
The Wolverines opened the match with a 933-821 win in the first game, and followed it up with an 850-763 decision in the second game. The Spartans avoided the sweep with an 847-794 win in the third game, but Waverly salvaged the total-pinfall victory 2,577 to 2,431.
Vanderpool banged out games of 278, 223, and 213 for a 714 series, while junior Derrick Canfield had a 556, and sophomore Matt Mauersberg added a 467.
Eighth-grader Ashton Pritchard rolled a 434 for the Wolverines, while sophomore Richard Stevens had a 380, and 7th-grader Carter Hayes chipped in with a 362.
Ashton Babcock led Edison with a 529 series.
Waverly, now 12-4, returns to action Friday at Watkins Glen.
