Valley Sports Report
LANSING - Athens raced out to a 23-point halftime lead, then substituted freely in the second half en route to a 37-27 win over Lansing here Wednesday evening in non-league junior varsity girls basketball action.

Caydence Macik scored seven points, and Hannah Forbes added four points to fuel a 17-1 blitz in the first eight minutes.

Rachel Stephens scored four points in the second quarter, and Forbes buried a 3-pointer as the junior Lady Wildcats upped their lead to 26-3 at the half.

With Athens "calling off the dogs," Lansing closed the gap in the second half, thanks in large part to Athens making just 5 of 18 free-throw attempts.

Forbes led Athens with 11 points, while Macik had nine points, Stephens added eight points, and Charlsey Walters chipped in with four points.

Athens returns to action Saturday at Wyalusing.
