NTL JV BOYS BASKETBALL: ATHENS BLOWS GAME OPEN EARLY IN 53-22 WIN OVER WYALUSING (12 PHOTOS) (2019-01-19)
Valley Sports ReportATHENS - Athens raced out to a 19-point first-quarter lead, and cruised to a 53-22 win over Wyalusing here Friday evening in NTL junior varsity boys basketball action.
Troy Pritchard scored nine points, including an old-fashioned three-point play, and Jonathan Smith knocked down a 3-pointer and scored five points to spark the junior Wildcats' 22-3 blitz in the first eight minutes.
Pritchard scored eight more points over the next two quarter, while Aidan Westbrook added six points, and Ryan Thompson canned a 3-pointers as Athens extended its lead to 24 points, at 44-20, entering the final eight minutes.
Pritchard led Athens with 17 points, while Westbrook added 10 points, Smith had nine points, Tucker Brown added six points, and Thompson chipped in with five points.
Abram Bennett and Grayden Cobb scored eight points apiece to lead Wyalusing.
Athens hosts Troy Tuesday.
