THE VALLEY - Wrestling again takes center stage this week as Athens vies for its first outright NTL title in 24 years at home Wednesday night, while Tioga is in action Saturday at the New York State, Division 2 Duals at Onondaga Community College.

It's Regents Week in New York, so the majority of action before Friday are make-up events.

There are 33 events on the docket this week, including eight on Friday and seven on Thursday.

The following are some, not all, of the week's top events:

MONDAY (1)
•  The Sayre girls are on the road at Canton in the only action on Martin Luther King Day.

TUESDAY (5)
•  The Waverly bowlers host division-leading Union Springs.

•  The Tioga boys host Edison on the hardwoods.

•  The Athens boys host Troy on the hardwoods.

WEDNESDAY (5)
•  The Athens wrestlers host Wyalusing. A win will give the Wildcats their first outright NTL title since 1994-95.

•  The Waverly wrestlers are on the road at SVEC.

THURSDAY (7)
•  The Waverly wrestlers are on the road at Owego.

•  The Tioga bowlers wrap up the regular season at home against Notre Dame.

•  The Sayre swim teams host Towanda.

•  The Sayre boys host NEB in an NTL Small School hoop match-up.

•  The Athens girls host Troy on he hardwoods.

FRIDAY (8)
 •  The Waverly boys host Large School rival Notre Dame, while the Lady Wolverines travel to Southport to battle their arch-rivals.

•  The Tioga boys host Small School rival Newfield.

•  The Athens girls host Wellsboro on the hardwoods in their second home game in as many nights.

SATURDAY (4)

•  The Tioga wrestlers return to Onondaga Community College's SRC Arena for the New York State Division 2 Duals.

•  The Athens wrestlers are in action in Day 2 of the Bedford Tournament.

•  The Athens boys host Freedom Village in an afternoon matinee on the hardwoods.
