IAC GIRLS BOWLING: UNION SPRINGS / PORT BYRON TOPS WAVERLY, 3-1 (2019-01-22)
Valley Sports Report WAVERLY - Waverly won the first game by 12 pins, but Union Springs / Port Byron responded by winning the next two games and the total-pinfall point to take a commanding 6-game lead with two matches (eight games) remaining here Tuesday in IAC girls bowling action at the Valley Bowling Center.
The Lady Wolverines edged the Lady Wolves 866-854 in the opening game of the match, but US / PB won the next two by scores of 979-842 and 886-845 for a total-pinfall victory of 2,719 to 2,553.
Senior Sarah Uhl led Waverly with a 569 series, including a 222, while 8th-grader Victoria Houseknecht shot a 528, and junior Mackenzie Plouse had a 527.
Senior Sarah Wood shot a 452 for the Lady Wolverines, while 7th-grader Rachel Houseknecht added a 450, and junior Morgan Lee tacked on a 415.
Colleen Jump led US / PB with a 571, while Keri Jesmer shot a 564, Alexis Colbert added a 543, and Makayla Smith had a 542.
Waverly returns to action Thursday against Candor at The Owego Bowl.
