CORNING - Waverly grad Jon Ward, a sophomore on the Corning Community College men's basketball team, had back-to-back strong outings in the Red Baron's three-game win streak in the new semester.

On Thursday, Ward had 18 points on 8 of 14 shooting from the field, nine rebounds, seven blocked shots and one steal in Corning's 74-61 home win over Finger Lakes CC.

On Jan. 15, Ward made 8 of 9 shots from the field for 16 points, and also had four boards, two blocked shots, two assists, and two steals in the Red Barons' 87-76 win over Tompkins-COrtland CC.

On the season, Ward, who has started in all 13 of Corning's games, averages 12.6 points per game and is shooting 54.3 percent from the field. He also average 8 rebounds, a team-best 3.6 blocks, 0.9 assists, and 0.8 steals per game.
