IAC GIRLS BOWLING: WAVERLY FINISHES SECOND, TIOGA NINTH AT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS (2019-02-02)
Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY - Waverly, led by junior Mackenzie Plouse and 8th-grader Victoria Houseknecht, finished second and Tioga was ninth here Saturday afternoon in the IAC girls bowling championships at the Valley Bowling Center.
Union Springs / Port Byron won the team title with a three-game set of 2,507, well ahead of Waverly's total-pinfall count of 2,366. Notre Dame finished third with 2,346 pins, O-M was fourth with 2,270, and Watkins Glen was fifth with 2,177. Tioga tallies 1,898 pins.
O-M's Jackie Vincent won individual gold on the day with a 566 series, while US / PB's Keri Jesmer was second with a 551, and Newark Valley's Rosie Hines was third with a 546.
Plouse finished fourth with a 534 series on games of 152, 213, and 169, and Victoria Houseknecht was fifth with a 529 series on games of 180, 149, and 200.
Senior Sarah Wood added a 464 series for the Lady Wolverines to finish 18th, while junior Morgan Lee shot a 452 to finish 20th, senior Kari VanAllen had a 429, senior Sarah Uhl added a 410, and 7th-grader Rachel Houseknecht tacked on a 407.
Senior Mackenzie Robinson led Tioga with a 499 series on games of 195, 177, and 127 to finish ninth on the day, while sophomore Destini Sweet shot a 363, junior Mackenzie Macumber had a 351, senior SueAnn Grantham had a 343, junior Bailey Elston added a 342, and sophomore Millie Grantham tacked on a 277.
Waverly and Tioga return to action next weekend at their respective Section IV Class Championships.
