TOWANDA — Athens didn’t have quite enough left in the tank to win its third meet in as many days here Thursday afternoon, dropping decisions to Jersey Shore in non-league swimming action.
The boys dropped a 72-27 decision to the Bulldogs, while the Lady Wildcats lost 65-47.
“We knew Jersey Shore had some fast swimmers and believed we had a chance to pull an upset, but the third day of a three-meet week proved to be too taxing and some of our guys ran out of gas,” said Athens coach Mark Keister.
“Our girls did a nice job winning several head-to-head events, but the scoring format favors winning relays and Jersey Shore had some great relays to finish off the day,” he added.
