THE WEEK AHEAD: POSTSEASON SHIFTS INTO HIGH GEAR FOR EVERYTHING EXCEPT BASKETBALL (2019-02-10)

Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY - The basketball regular season comes to an end on both sides of the border this week, while every other sport either shifts into or continues in postseason mode.

There are 21 events on the docket this week, including five on Tuesday.

The following are most, but not all of this week's top events:

MONDAY (4)
•  The Sayre boys play their final home game of basketball season.

•  The Tioga girls host O-M in their regular-season finale.

TUESDAY (5)
•  Sayre hosts the NTL Swimming & Diving Championships.

•  The Waverly girls host Johnson City in their regular-season hoop finale.

•  The Athens girls hoop team plays its final game of the season when it hosts Troy.

WEDNESDAY (2)
•  The Waverly boys swim team is in action at the Section IV, Class C preliminaries at Watkins Glen.

THURSDAY (2)
•  The Waverly girls take on Whitney Point in the overall IAC Large School championship game at Tompkins-Cortland Community College.

FRIDAY (4)
•  The Waverly divers are in action at the Class C preliminaries at Watkins Glen.

• Waverly junior Mackenzie Plouse and 8th-grader Victoria Houseknecht will compete in the Section IV Girls Bowling State Qualifier at the Valley Bowling Center.

•  The Waverly indoor track & field team is in action at the Section IV Championships at Cornell University.

SATURDAY (4)
•  The Tioga boys bowling team will compete in the Section IV State Qualifier at the Valley Bowling Center. Waverly junior Derrick Canfield and 8th-grader Zach Vanderpool will compete for a spot on the Section IV individual team.

•  The Waverly boys swim team is in action at the Section IV Championships at Watkins Glen.

• The Athens and Sayre wrestling teams will be in action at the North Section Tournament at the Troy Commons Building.
