DANVILLE - Danville, the projected top seed in the upcoming District 4, Class AAAA playoffs, flexed its muscles Monday night with an 84-35 rout of Athens here in non-league boys basketball action.

Danville, which wraps up the 2018-19 regular-season campaign with a 20-2 record, raced out to a 21-point lead after the first eight minutes, and stretched its advantage to 34 points at the half.

Peyton Riley scored 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and 6-5 Dyson Harward added eight points as the Ironmen built a 32-11 lead in the first quarter.

Harward scored eight more points in the second quarter, and six of his teammates also found the scoring column as Danville pushed its lead to 57-23 at the half.

Harward canned a pair of 3-pointers and scored 14 points in the third quarter to fuel an 18-6 run that gave the Ironmen a 75-29 lead heading into the final eight minutes.

Harward led Danville with 30 points and Riley added 14.

Senior Aric Westbrook led Athens with 13 points, while junior Keegan Rude had nine points, and junior Aaron Lane chipped in with seven.

Athens, now 12-8, returns to action Tuesday at Thomas A. Edison.
