Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY - Athens is on the road for the final regular-season basketball game of the winter season, while postseason bowling, track & field, and diving takes center stage Friday.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Athens (13-8) at Wyalusing (8-13), 6 p.m. JV start:
The Wildcats are coming off a 65-42 win over Thomas A. Edison Wednesday, while the Rams dropped a 41-38 decision to Troy Thursday night.

Athens is currently sixth in the District 4, Class AAAA  postseason power rankings and could move past Lewisburg (11-11) into fifth with a win in its regular-season finale.

Wyalusing won the first meeting at Athens, 54-51.

GIRLS BOWLING

Section IV State Qualifier, 3 p.m. @ Valley Bowling Center:
Waverly junior Mackenzie Plouse and 8th-grader Victoria Houseknecht vie for a spot on the Section IV all-star team that will compete at States.

Plouse finished the regular season with a 182 average, and was seventh last weekend at the Class C Championships with a 555 series.

Houseknecht finished the regular season with a 174 average,and was second at the Class C event with a 604 series.

INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
Section IV Championships, 5 p.m. @ Ithaca College:
Junior Isaac Chandler will vie for gold in the pole vault and the 55-meter hurdles, while juniors Melina Ortiz and Sheridan Talada lead the Lady Wolverines into action.

BOYS DIVING
Class C Preliminaries, 10:30 a.m. @ Watkins Glen:
Waverly junior Gage Streeter is the top seed in 1-meter diving competition, while 8th-grader Jerrell Sackett is the sixth seed.
