Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY - Postseason wrestling gets underway in Pa. this morning with the North Section Tournament, while the Sayre girls play for their first-ever "NTL Showdown" title, and New York bowlers and swimmers vie for trips to their respective state tournaments.

WRESTLING
District 4 North Section Tournament, 10 a.m. @ Troy Commons Building:
Athens and Sayre will be joined by Canton, Jersey Shore, North Penn-Liberty, NEB, Sullivan County, Towanda, Troy, Williamson, and Wyalusing.

Athens senior David Galasso and freshman Karter Rude are top seeds, while freshman Gavin Bradley is a second seed, junior Keegan Braund is a third seed, and freshman Kaden Setzer, and sophomores Zach Stafursky and Ben Pernaselli are fourth seeds.

Sayre senior Zaine Patnode is a third seed, and the lone Redskins seeded in the top four in any weight class.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
NTL Showdown Championship Game
Sayre (18-5) vs. Wellsboro (14-9), 6 p.m. @ Mansfield University:
The Lady Redskins Redskins are coming a 55-32 win over arch-rival Athens Wednesday in one Showdown semifinal, while the Lady Green Hornets topped North Penn-Mansfield, 50-34, in the other semifinal.

Sayre won the regular-season match-up at home, 40-33, on Dec. 14.

BOYS SWIMMING
Section IV Championships, 6 p.m. @ Watkins Glen:
Waverly will have eight top seeds this afternoon at the Class C Championships, led by junior Mike Atanasoff in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle sprints, and sophomore Collin Keefer in the 200-yard IM and the 500-yard freestyle.

Freshman Kaden Wheeler is the top seed in the 100-yard backstroke, and the second seed in the 100-yard butterfly, and senior Trent Wright is the top seed in the 100-yard backstroke.

The Wolverines are also the top seed in the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays.

BOYS BOWLING
Section IV, State Qualifier, 9 a.m. @ Valley Bowling Center:
Coming off a second-place finish at last weekend's Class D Championships, Tioga will vie for the top spot in the Division II ranks, and a trip to the New York State Championships.

Waverly junior Derrick Canfield and 8th-grader Zach Vanderpool will also be in action in an effort to make the Section IV "Composite" team that will also compete at States. The top six bowlers not on the Division I or Division II champs will qualify for States.
