ORLANDO — Tioga grad Parker Hendershot rapped out three hits Friday night to help Penn State to a 5-2 win over Central Florida here at John Euliano Park.
At 8-2, the Nittany Lions are off to their best 10-game start since a 9-1 mark in 1980.
Hendershot’s first hit of the game — an RBI single to center field — gave Penn State a 2-0 lead.
Hendershot was 3-for-5 with a run scored, and his second stolen base of the season.
On Saturday, Hendershot was 1-for-4 with an RBI in a 5-3 loss to UCF.
The Nittany Lions wrapped up the UCF series Sunday with an 11-5 win. Hendershot was 0-for-5 with a walk.
On Tuesday, Penn State returned north and won at Pittsburgh, 7-3. Hendershot was 0-for-4 with a run scored.
On the season, Hendershot is hitting .278 (15 hits in 54 ABs) with one double, one triple, six runs scored, seven RBI, and two stolen bases.
Penn State opens its home schedule this weekend with a four-game set against UMass-Lowell this weekend.
