KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Waverly grad Sam Mennig, a senior on the Clarkson softball team, earned a pair of wins in the Golden Knights' recent hot streak, which included six wins in seven games.

On Friday, Mennig allowed four runs - two earned - on eight hits in five innings to earn the victory in a 7-5 win over Wheaton College. She struck out three and walked one.

Two days later, Mennig allowed five runs - four earned - on nine hits in six innings to earn the win in Clarkson's 6-5 win over Bowdoin College. She struck out three and walked none.

On Tuesday, Mennig got a no-decision in Clarkson's 11-9 win over Manchester. She allowed five runs - three earned - on nine hits in four innings. She struck out four and walked none.

On the season, Mennig is 3-0 with a 3.23 ERA. She has 17 strikeouts and just one walk in 26 innings in the pitcher's circle.

Clarkson, now 10-4, finishes up its Florida swing today, then returns to New York, where it will open play Tuesday at Oswego State, featuring a freshman catcher from Waverly, Zoe Mennig - Sam's younger sister.
