Sam Mennig, a senior on the Clarkson softball team, got the better of her younger sister
Zoe Mennig, a freshman at Oswego, here Tuesday in the Golden Knights' 2-1 win in the second game of a doubleheader in non-conference action.
Sam Mennig fired a complete-game four-hitter to improve to 5-0 on the season. She allowed an unearned run, while striking out six and walking none.
Zoe Mennig, who started at catcher for the Lady Lakers, was 0-for-2 with a pair of strikeouts.
Oswego State won the first game of twinbill, 4-2.
In her previous start, Sam Mennig earned a win in Clarkson's 4-2 win over Buffalo State. She gave up two runs - one earned - on six hits, while striking out four and walking one in a complete-game seven-inning effort.
On Wednesday, Sam Mennig was tagged with her first loss of the season at St. John Fisher.. She allowed four earned runs on five hits in five innings of work.
For the season, Sam Mennig is 5-1 with a 2.43 ERA. She has 32 strikeouts and 12 walks in 49 innings pitched.
Zoe Mennig has started five games for Oswego State and is hitting .214 (3 hits in 14 ABs) with one double, three runs scored, and two RBI.
Clarkson, now 13-7, returns to action Thursday when it hosts crosstown rival SUNY Potsdam, while Oswego State (3-9) hosts RIT in a doubleheader Tuesday.
