THE WEEK AHEAD: SPRING SEASON ROARS BACK INTO FULL SWING (2019-04-21)

THE VALLEY - Spring break is behind us, and the spring season roars back into full swing with 38 events on the docket this week, including nine on Monday, and eight apiece on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Diamond action is a large part of the slate, with Waverly hosting big games Monday, and Athens and Sayre renewing their rivalries Thursday.

The following are some, not all, of the top events this week:

MONDAY (9)
"¢  The Tioga boys golf team hosts Edison at Shepard Hills.

"¢  Waverly baseball and softball host Newark Valley in key IAC Division 3 match-ups.

"¢  Sayre baseball and softball hosts NTL Small School foe Williamson.

 TUESDAY (8)
"¢  The Waverly girls golf team looks to keep its unbeaten streak alive at Tomasso's Golf Course against Corning, Lansing, Johnson City, and S-VE.

"¢  The Waverly track teams host Notre Dame, while Athens is at home against Williamson.

"¢  Sayre baseball and softball hosts NTL Small School rival Cowanesque Valley.

WEDNESDAY (8)
"¢  The Waverly boys golf team hosts Newark Valley and Candor at Shepard Hills.

"¢  Tioga baseball hosts Candor in an old-school IAC match-up.

THURSDAY (3)
"¢ Sayre baseball and softball travel to Athens for its third games in four days.

"¢  Tioga softball hosts Union Springs.

FRIDAY (6)
"¢  The Sayre and Athens track teams are in action at the Lasagna Invite a Wyalusing.

 "¢  Waverly baseball and softball travels to Thomas A. Edison for an IAC match-up.

SATURDAY (4)
"¢  Waverly baseball hosts Vestal in a 1 p.m. matinee match-up.

"¢  The Sayre softball team hosts Sullivan County in a non-league morning contest.

"¢  Tioga baseball travels to Owego.

"¢  Tioga softball is in action at the Maine-Endwell Tournament.
