Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY - Action on the diamonds and the links take center stage as the spring season kicks back into high gear after spring break.

The home action in the Valley includes baseball and softball games in Waverly and Sayre, and boys golf action at The Club at Shepard Hills.

BASEBALL
Newark Valley (6-2 overall, 5-2 IAC Div. 3) at Waverly (6-3, 4-2), 4:30 p.m.:
The Wolverines are coming off a 5-1 win over Notre Dame Wednesday, while the Cardinals blanked Candor, 5-0.

Newark Valley and Waverly are tied in the loss column atop the divisional standings, while Notre Dame and Dryden are each one game back.

Williamson (4-5, 1-4 NTL Small) at Sayre (3-6, 3-3), 4:30 p.m.:
The Redskins are coming off an 8-1 win over previously-unbeaten Athens Thursday, while the Warriors dropped a 15-0 decision to Cowanesque Valley, 15-0, Tuesday.

Sayre is 3-3 in divisional play and leads Williamson, NEB, and Cowanesque Valley by one game in the loss column.

Tioga (4-3, 3-2 Div. 2) at Trumansburg (2-5, 2-3), 4:30 p.m.:
The Tigers are coming off a 3-1 win over Lansing Thursday, while Trumansburg thumped Moravia, 14-2.

Tioga is tied with Lansing for second place in the division. Both teams trail front-running Edison, which is 4-0.

SOFTBALL
Newark Valley (5-3 overall, 5-2 IAC Div. 3) at Waverly (10-1, 7-0), 4:30 p.m.:
The Lady Wolverines are coming off a 7-0 win over Notre Dame Thursday, while the Lady Cardinals rolled over Whitney Point, 17-2.

Waverly, at 7-0, leads Newark Valley (5-2) and Notre Dame (4-2) by two games in the loss column. With two wins against Notre Dame already this season, Waverly can put a stranglehold on the division title with a win this afternoon.

Williamson (0-7, 0-4 NTL Small) at Sayre (0-6, 0-5 NTL), 4:30 p.m.: The Lady Redskins are coming off a 15-0 to NEB Wednesday, while the Lady Warriors have been off since a 14-1 loss to NEB on April 12.

Tioga (3-2, 3-1 IAC Div. 2) at Trumansburg (2-4,2-4), 4:30 p.m. (doubleheader):
The Lady Tigers are coming off a 4-0 win over Moravia on April 12, while knocked off Lansing, 11-8 on April 10.

Tioga is tied with Union Springs for second place in the IAC Division 2 title chase. Both teams are 3-1 and chasing unbeaten Thomas A. Edison, which is 7-0 in league play.

GIRLS GOLF
Waverly (10-0), S-VE at Lansing, 4 p.m.:
The Lady Wolverines are coming off a 26-stroke win over Corning despite being without two starters. Their win streak is at 108 matches.

BOYS GOLF
Edison at Tioga (3-1), noon, @ Shepard Hills:
The Tigers are coming off a win over Moravia Thursday, and have won three in a row since a season-opening tie-breaker loss at Dryden.

TENNIS
Waverly (3-2) at Southern Cayuga, 4:30 p.m.:
The Wolverines are coming off a 5-2 loss to Edison on April 11.
