VESTAL — Led by individual gold medalist senior Tim Woodcock, Waverly claimed team gold here Friday afternoon at the Section IV, Class B Championship at Midway Lanes.

Waverly edged IAC rival Union Springs by just 30 points (2,773 to 2,743) for the gold. Chenango Forks finished third with 2,609 pins, while Windsor was fourth with 2,576 pins, and Norwich was fifth with 2,507.

Woodcock rolled the lone 600 series in the Class B field, knocking out a 627 series on games of 172, 188, and 267.

Windsor’s Trevor Kimble won the individual silver medal with a 597 series, and Union Springs’ Matt Fritz was the bronze medalist with a 585.

Zach Bobbett of Union Springs and Forks’ Pat Shoemaker shared high-game honors with a 235, and Waverly junior Chris Johnson won the bronze with a 233.

Johnson finished 9th in the Class B ranks for the Wolverines with a 559 series on games of 233, 136, and 190, while senior Conner Joseph was 10th with a 552 on games of 170, 179, and 203.

Junior Nick Briggs was 14th with a 532 series on games of 178, 182, and 172, and freshman Derrick Canfield was 22nd with a 503 on games of 188, 137, and 178.

By virtue of its IAC Large School title, Waverly will compete in the Section IV State Qualifier Friday at the Valley Bowling Center.
