ITHACA — Tioga’s Sam Taylor and Sayre’s Ryan Murrelle each won their age groups here Friday at the Central New York PGA Junior Tour stop at Ithaca Country Club, while Waverly's Alex Tomasso and Sidney Tomasso each finished second in their age groups.

Taylor fired a 1-under par round of 71 to edge Addison’s Daniel Ames by three strokes in the 15U boys division.

Taylor, who was the low-medalist on the day, and Ames each recorded pars on the first six holes.

Taylor birdied the 140-yard, par-3 7th hole to take a one-stroke lead, then logged another birdie on the 350-yard, par-4 9th hole to shoot a 2-under par 34 on the front nine and lead Ames, who also birdied the 9th hole, by one stroke.

After a pair bogeys by Ames, Taylor’s lead grew to three strokes after 13 holes, but a Taylor bogey on 14 and a birdie by Ames on 15 trimmed the lead to one stroke.

Taylor parred the final three holes to preserve the win, while Ames had a double-bogey on 18.

Murrelle shot an 80 to edge Endicott’s Maxwell Mastrogiacomo by two strokes in the 18U boys division.

After 14 holes, Murrelle and Mastrogiacomo were tied at 8-over par, but Murrelle rang up a birdie on the 345-yard, par-4 15th hole, while Mastrogiacomo carded a bogey.

Alex Tomasso led by one stroke after 11 holes, but struggled down the stretch and shot a 91 to finish second in the 18U girls division — eight strokes off the pace set by Trumansburg’s Elizabeth Dawson, who survived a 10 on the par-5 3rd hole.

Sidney Tomasso pulled into a tie for first place with a par on the 11th hole, but four double-bogeys down the stretch led to a 93 and a second-place finish in the 15U girls division — six shots off the pace set by Horseheads’ Lucia Chen.
