TOMS RIVER, N.J. — The Conklin Raiders Gold 18U travel softball team, which features a quartet of Valley standouts, went 9-0 over the weekend here  to win the Tom Doyle Invitational for the third consecutive season.

Tioga’s Mariah Culver, Waverly’s Shailei Kraft, and Wendi Hammond, and Athens’ Emma Adams were major contributors for the Raiders Gold, which won four games Sunday to claim the title.

The Gold outscored its opponents, 71-8, in the nine wins, including four wins by shutout.

Conklin Raiders Gold 4, Lady Bandits 0

Culver fired a two-hitter, striking out six and walking two. She threw 79 pitches in a seven-inning, complete-game effort to help the Riders to a 4-0 win over the Lady Bandits.

Hammond singled twice, scored one run, and stole a base for the Gold, while Adams singled and drove in a run.

Raiders Gold 8, N.J. Pride 2
Binghamton’s Paige Rauch pitched a two-hitter and hit her second home run in as many games to lead the Gold to an 8-2 win over the New Jersey Pride.

Hammond singled twice, scored two runs, and stole a base in the win, and Kraft singled twice and scored a run.

Raiders Gold 15, Long Island Pride Elite 1

Hammond earned the win with 2 2/3 innings of one-hit ball in the Raiders Gold’s 15-1 four-inning win over the Long Island Pride Elite.

Kraft was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, while Adams doubled and singled, scored two runs, and had two RBI, Hammond singled, scored a run, drove in two runs, and stole a base, and Culver singled and scored wo runs.

Rauch hit her third home run of the tournament, and had four RBI.

Raiders Gold 8, Team Extreme NY 0
Culver earned the win with three innings of one-hit ball. She struck out four and walked one in an 8-0 win over Team Extreme N.Y.

Rauch hit her fourth and fifth home runs of the tournament and had four more RBI to power the Raiders at the plate, while Kraft doubled and singled, and drove in a run, Culver stroked a pair of singled, Hammond singled, scored a run, and knocked in a run, and Adams singled and scored a run.

Raiders Gold 6, Nook Gold 0
Hammond slugged a solo home run, and Kraft doubled and singled, and scored a run to help the Raiders to a 6-0 win over Nook Gold.

Adams singled and scored in the win.

Rauch pitched a two-hitter, striking out six and walking one in a seven-inning, complete-game effort. She threw just 76 pitches, including 56 strikes.

Raiders Gold 6, EC Tsunami Gold 0

Hammond threw a two-hitter in a six-inning, complete-game effort to lead the Raiders to a 6-0 win over EC Tsunami Gold. She walked two and struck out one.

Hammond also scored a run, and Kraft drove in a run. The Raiders managed just six hits in the win.

Raiders Gold 12, Team Long Island Elite 2

Kraft banged out three hits, including a double, scored two runs, and had three RBI, and Rauch hit her sixth home run of the tournament to power the Raiders to a 12-2 six-inning win over Team Long Island Elite.

Rauch allowed two runs on three hits, while striking out seven and walking one in a complete-game win.

Adams scored a run, stole a base, and drove a run in the win, and Hammond scored a run.

Raiders Gold 3, UNY Revolution 2

The Raiders Gold took a 3-0 lead early and held off a late rally for a 3-2 win over UNY Revolution and a trip to the championship game.

Culver earned the win in the pitcher’s circle, allowing two runs — one earned — on three hits, while striking out seven and walking two.

Hammond homered and singled, scored one run, and drove in a run, while Kraft singled twice and drove in one run, and Adams added a single.

Raiders Gold 9, Morris County Belles 1

Culver fired a one-hitter to lead the Raiders Gold to a 9-1 five-inning win over the Morris County Belles.

Culver struck out five and walked three, throwing 73 pitches in five innings.

Hammond stroked three singles, scored two runs, and drove in a run to pace the Gold’s 11-hit attack, while Kraft singled and scored a run, and Adams singled.

Rauch also hit her sixth home run of the tournament.


NOTES: The Raiders Gold are now 28-13-1 on the season.

Rauch leads the Raiders with a .458 average with 21 home runs, and 51 RBI. … Kraft is third on the team with a .367 average (36 hits in 98 at-bats. She has four doubles and one triple, 16 runs scored, eight RBI, and had struck out just six times. … Hammond is fourth on the team with a .309 batting average  (29 hits in 94 ABs). She had one double, two home runs, 12 RBI, 22 runs scored, and is second on the team with nine stolen bases. … Culver is hitting .250 (8 hits in 32 ABs) with three runs scored and one RBI. … Adams is hitting .224 (22 hits in 98 ABs) with three doubles, 16 runs scored, 11 RBI, and four stolen bases.

In the pitcher’s circle, Culver had a team-best 1.42 ERA in a team-high 79 innings. She allowed 51 hits and 25 walks, while striking out 67. … Hammond posted a 1.54 ERA in 36 1/3 innings. She allowed 35 hits and eight walks, while striking out 18.
